Nadav Schoenberg Erin Brockovich

1. Erin Brockovich, a single mother of three, has been fighting a uphill battle for most of her adult life. Nothing has been given out to her, and she's needed to fight for everything she has. Erin Brockovich's maternal instinct assists in her aggressive pursuit of a job. In order to support her children, Erin needs a job. To her, acquiring a job seems to be life or death for her family. Because she has struggled in her life, Erin's sense of right and wrong is greater than many.  She knows personally what it feels like to be ignored and exploited by those who are more fortunate. Erin is pushy, however, she is doing what is necessary for her and her children to survive. Women who are aggressive have always been conceived as "bitchy", however, they are just doing what they need to do in order to survive.

2. At the beginning of the film, Ed Masry is very selfish and materialistic. Being the head of his own law firm, Ed is caught up in all the money. He has no time for the less fortunate like Erin Brockovich. Also because he was already successful, Masry did not put sufficient effort and dedication to his work. Also, he was not concerned with the people involved in the case but the money that he would earn from it. He did not work as hard for Erin's case because he knew not much money would be made. Attorneys should be required to give the same service to all of their clients. Yes, they have the right to make money, however, all people should be treated with care and respect. While there is a dollar sign attached, these are people's lives who are being affected.

3. Merriam-Webster describes work ethic as the belief in work as a moral good. Erin Brockovich lives by this value. Erin begs for the job in order to earn a salary. This salary will help her and her family with the various expenses that they have. However, as the case progressed, Erin worked more and more for the good of the people and not the money that will come of it. Erin becomes truly invested in the case, learning the names and stories of hundreds of those who were affected. Erin sees herself as more than just somebody who works for Ed Masry. She sees her job as a opportunity to do good for people who have been exploited. Erin believes her calling in life is to be more than a assistant. This causes her to do good, dedicated work for the people.

4. Erin Brockovich has a clear understanding of what is right and wrong. Yes,
$20 million is a lot of money. However, it is not fit for the distress that the people of Hinckley were put under by PG&E. These people spent thousands of dollars on medical bills, and some even lost their lives. The people of Hinckley were not rich. They were people of very simple minds. However, just because they never had much money does not mean they are not owed the money they are deserved because of PG&E's corruption.
