Destiny Kerr- Erin Brockvich

1. I believe Erin Brockovich’s aggressiveness does have a lot to do with the circumstances in which she lives. She is desperate to make a stable living in order to support her and her family. I think she needs to stand her ground and take and push herself more than other because she isn’t qualified for any job that she interviews for, so selling herself by making personal connections is her only hope to get hired. However, I don’t think that her financial incapabilities effect her morality, or what she believes to be “right” and “wrong”. Because she is going through a struggle, and has personally experienced hardships in life, she is very outspoken and isn’t afraid of voicing her opinion. She does have a greater moral sense because she has lived through a lot of the pain that the average American can’t say they’ve lived through. In my honest opinion, Erin isn’t what some may call “prissy” or uptight, I believe she is just desperate to make a decent living for herself and her family.

2. In the beginning of the film, the lawyer that was hired to settle Brockovich’s case didn’t seem to be fighting very hard for her. The most he did was try to make her more comfortable about her accident and convince her that things were going to work out in her favor. If it was a client that paid him more money he probably would have tried a lot harder to beat the case.
Any attorney should make their hardest effort to win any case, regardless of how much they are being paid. But in reality, they will care a lot more if their is more money on the line.

3.The Merriam Webster  definition of “work ethic” is “a belief in work as a moral good”. At first, Brockovich is only trying to get a job in order to survive, and provide for her family, but as the movie goes on, she takes on a genuine interest in her work. Though she does take advantage of her job by leaving to do her own research, she seems to want to do the right thing in order to fix the water crisis. She probably oversteps her boundaries only because she’s never has any work experience prior to that job. So she doesn’t know the appropriate way to talk to her boss, nor does she understand the proper ways to communicate to the people in the workplace. But nonetheless, her determination keeps her motivation high in order for her to do her job well.

4.Erin knows each of her plaintiffs personally, and has even remembered their information by heart.  The attorneys seem to only be interested in the case itself, and how it will benefit them. Brockovich was able to connect with the plaintiffs on a personal level, and she takes their feelings into consideration. She doesn't just look at them as plaintiffs but as human beings. I agree with Erin's perspective because  those people's lives are on the line and she's all that they've got in order to stop the water crisis and to get them to help they deserve.
