1. Erin Brockovich's aggressive drive to acquire a job is directly correlated with the fact that she is a single mother struggling to support her family. I think that she is more aware of what is right and wrong in the world because she has been through so much and she has seen how wrongs and rights affect people. If she were a wealthy woman she wouldn't have a strong sense of right and wrong because rich people are often treated differently in the modern framework of society. She didn't do anything wrong to get to where she is in the movie. She earns it and fights for people who were oblivious to the water problems. Erin Brockovich has had to struggle as a single mother and she wanted to do what was right for her children. Erin is extremely pushy, but this characteristic was essential in helping her get the law firm job and fight for what she believed in. Her attitude was a major key to her survival because she never gave up even when she was unemployed and broke with bills piling up.
2. My opinion of Ed Masry in the beginning was that I didn't like him very much. He seemed like he was just trying to make a profit off of Erin. He was quiet and wealthy which is the opposite of Erin Brockovich. He didn't work very hard on her car crash case. He knew that he wasn't going to make very much money off of her and his disappointment showed. I believe that an attorney should work equally hard on a case that he or she is making no profit on as on one worth millions. It shows authenticity and equal treatment. This is another example of doing what is right instead of what makes the him or her the most revenue.
3. The Merriam Webster dictionary defines work ethic as a belief in work as a moral good. I think Erin Brockovich has a great work ethic because she values hard work. She perseveres when times are hard and tries her best at her job. The only problem with Erin's work attitude is that she has an issue with authority, especially when things don't go her way. Erin doesn't always acknowledge that Ed is her boss and she definitely sees herself as more than a temporary employee because in the office she acts like she runs the place. It is clear that she values herself above the secretary and assistant because she is very disrespectful to them. Erin does her job with confidence, but she gets fired for running off and doing her own project. This ambition later pays off and she gets rehired, however I'm not sure that this situation is entirely common.
4. I completely agree with Erin Brockovich's opinion and argument against PG&E's attorney. She questions his sense of right and wrong by asking him how he sleeps at night knowing that his company is poisoning the lives of the people living around the plant. I agree with Erin's perspective because it is a moral perspective. She is trying to fight for the families who have lost their babies and gotten cancer because of the water. PG&E is clearly just trying to make money and they think that they can get away with anything because of their economic value. They know that they have been caught red handed because Erin dug up the files displaying the chromium 6 measures. I agree with Erin's perspective because it is a result of her anger with this company.
