Tali Quiroz (30 Days Living on Minimum Wage)

9. I believe that Alex became so emotional in The Free Store because she was happy to see how much good in the world is being done for those who don't have much. I can relate to this on a personal level, because I have experienced the feeling of helping those in need, and it is mind blowing, so I can understand why Alex was emotional she saw the difference the volunteers were making in peoples' lives. I also think she was grateful, because she wouldn't have any furniture without The Free Store.

12. I think the underlying feeling that is the cause of their argument is stress. It was clear to see how much stress Alex was under, and witnessing Morgan spend money was nerve wrecking when she knows how hard it was to obtain it in the first place. Another factor could be anger towards Morgan, because she says that she is the one walking to work everyday to save money, while Morgan uses public transportation. Overall, this scene displays how finances can cause stress quickly, and cause arguments.

  1. Abi Otwell: I agree that the cause of their arguments may be the fact that Alex feels as if she is the one getting the worse end of the deal due to having to walk to work. She also may resent him for making her participate in this 30 day trial with him in the first place. While prior to beginning the 30 days Alex may have been eager to experiment with Morgan, after a week living with little money to spare, she may be regretting her decision. This scene in the film does a great job of showing the amount of stress that living on minimum wage places people under, especially given that Alex and Morgan knew they would be able to return to a luxurious lifestyle after the conclusion of the month.
