ATTICUS DEUTSCH

Response to question 10: One aspect of the "30 Days on Minimum Wage" which really stuck out to me was the health care situation. At first, The husbands complaint about a hurt wrist seemed very mellow dramatic. With their apparent scocio-economic situation (both only making minimum wage), going to the doctor for a hurt wrist seems like a poor decision. Once I saw how fast and bad his wrist problem developed, Black and blue with lumps, my opinion changed. I felt that the doctor may be expensive, but he wouldn't be able to work soon if he kept on using his wrist without medical attention. No work means no money and soon his
wrist would be more of a financial crutch to him than a hospital visit. If the couple had kids, I would still be more beneficial to fix what seemed like a gory injury so he can get his health back to 100% and then work as hard as he can to provide for his kids

Response to question 6: Gerald is completely right about how the cost of living in the US is much more than it's given credit for. His current employment, making minimum wage, is not enough to support himself, let alone children. Republicans tell us that raising the minimum wage will decrease the number of jobs. This has some truth to it, however it is important to insure those who have jobs can feed their children and then the government should focus on sustainable job creation.

  1. I completely Agree that rassing the minimum wage would cause people to lose jobs, because it woudl cost the employer more. I am glade Atticus understands this!

  2. About question 10, I agree with how at first I thought going to the doctor was a waste of money and time for that minor injury. Then it got bad so it ended up being worth it.
