10) If I had to make the decision to go the doctor vs. trying to keep finances in the black I would be so overwhelmed. At first I would try and push through and keep working, because that is the kind of person I am. If it got really bad I think I would end up going to the doctor because at the end of the day, health is more important. If children were involved, I would definitely take them to the doctor. I would want to show them that they are secure and safe in there life and that people can help if they are hurt- because that is the way it should be. I wouldn't tell them that I couldn't afford it because that's just too hard. They are too young to hear that truth.
12) It was really easy for Morgan and Alex to get into an argument over finances. I think that underlying feeling that is the cause of these arguments is fear. There is so much more to money than just numbers. It's food and water and transportation... it's survival. When your living paycheck to paycheck there is so much fear. If you make just one bad decision with money, you could loose everything. The stakes are very high for people in the situation the Morgan and Alex put themselves in. It is very hard to stay clam and composed when your under so much pressure.

ReplyDeleteSame Patchett: I really like how you not only thought of the obvious reasons for taking your kids to the doctor if you were in that situation, but also the emotional aspect of making your kids feel safe and protected. I also agree with your answer to question 12, since I said a similar thing in my response.
