Shark Tank Extra Credit - Skye Taylor
In this episode of Shark Tank , we saw three entrepreneurs. The first one we seen was Carmen Lindner has her own company called ‘Gotta Have S’more’. It’s a company where she turns s’mores into muffins and she sells them all over the world. She makes a really good profit off of them, but they’re really expensive. So expensive, they’re nearly $10 a S’muffin! She went on Shark Tank asking for $75,000 in investment in exchange for 25% of her company. The sharks were very pleased with the numbers and the progress that Carmen was making with her company, but when they got to the cost of how much the delivery cost was, they were appalled. The delivery fee was $54 dollars which was a big no for the sharks, so they all passed on giving her the investment or even negotiating. The second entrepreneur we seen was Yuen and Peter Yung owned a restaurant named ‘How Do You Roll?’ It’s a restaurant where you can go in and sort of build your own sushi roll. They have 15 different franchises in 5 different states and 2 corporate locations. The boys wanted $1 million in exchange for 12% equity of the company. All of the sharks backed out because they felt like they weren’t fit for the sushi business, but Kevin wanted to negotiate. He offered $1 million for 22% equity and a check every month from the franchises profit. The brothers talked in over and they came to an agreement to take the offer. Soon after each of their people met up, Yuen and Peter backed out because they had something covered up that they didn’t want Kevin’s people to see. The final entrepreneur seen was Bea Arthur and her company was ‘Pretty Padded Room’. It was a place for women to go talk to an online therapist, but it wasn’t your typical therapist. It was a friend that could relate to them and their problems. This friend had all the knowledge they needed to know to help customer find a solution. She came on the show asking for a $100,000 investment, in exchange for 30% of her company. Bea Arthur’s website had a great system and was put together very well despite her number problem. She didn’t know what her numbers were and the numbers she was giving out simply didn’t add up. The Sharks instantly tore her alive and all backed out. I believe that the sharks were extremely intense on each person, but that’s what they come to do.
